7th and H is a new construction eight-story, mixed-use, affordable housing community in downtown Sacramento developed by Mercy Housing California. The development has 150 studio and one-bedroom apartments with abundant upper floor common areas, including lush outdoor terraces, comprehensive resident services, the 5,000 square foot WellSpace Health Tom Gagen Community Health Center on the ground floor, and two retail/restaurant spaces for lease. Half of the apartments are home to formerly homeless residents and the remaining 75 are reserved for residents earning between 40-50% of the area median income. SHRA provided $23 million in redevelopment assistance for the $47 million project. 37 of the units are project based voucher units administered by the Housing Authority.

The recently renovated Studios at Hotel Berry, 729 L Street, was nominated for the State of Downtown Sacramento 2013 VIBE Award. The Downtown V.I.B.E. award, which stands for Visionary Innovators in Building Excellence, celebrates local leaders and community champions who have contributed to the enrichment of Downtown Sacramento.

SHRA administers millions of dollars in public funds from local, state and federal sources to provide affordable housing opportuities for low income residents, improve community facilities and infrastructure, and provide gap financing to developers that create affordable housing.

SHRA also invests these funds in programs to partner with nonprofit organizations and local small builders to help renovate housing impacted by foreclosure.

By investing in communities, SHRA helps make Sacramento’s neighborhoods better places to live, work, play and do business.

Globe Mills is the transformation of one of the oldest mills west of the Mississippi into an award winning apartment complex at 12th and C Streets in downtown Sacramento.

The historic City landmark provides 114 affordable senior apartments and 31 moderate-rate loft-style apartments after completing $38 million in rehabilitation and new construction.

Phoenix Park is an unprecedented $84 million community rebuilding project by SHRA and the City of Sacramento that turned a historically troubled neighborhood in South Sacramento marked by crime, violence and structural neglect into a vibrant, safer housing community for low income families and seniors.
